Munish Sharma

Dr Munish Sharma is a Senior Industry Fellow with the Social Cyber Institute. He brings over 15 years of experience across government, think tanks, and the private sector, working at the intersection of cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and geopolitics. He was Senior Adviser for Cyber and Critical Technology at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi, where he helped implement the Australia–India Cyber and Critical Technology Partnership advising senior diplomats on India’s technology policy and geopolitical landscape. Munish was part of the founding cohort of fellows at India’s Ministry of External Affairs’ New, Emerging and Strategic Technologies (NEST) Division, contributing to India’s approach to global technology governance and international collaboration. He has also held research roles at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, where he helped build the institution’s cyber and emerging technology research practice. Munish holds a PhD in International Relations and he is the author of Building China into a Cyber Superpower (Routledge, 2024) and has published extensively on cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, and emerging technologies.
