Ravi Nayyar

Ravi Nayyar is Fellow for Cyber Regulation at the Social Cyber Institute. His research focus is the effectiveness of the regulation of cyber governance in Australia and its implications for Australian national security. Ravi completed his PhD at the University of Sydney in 2026. His thesis explores the regulation of national security risks from critical software products deployed on critical infrastructure assets, with theoretical foundations in regulatory theory and corporate governance theory. A published author, Ravi continues to write extensively on cyber regulation, including for his blog, ‘A Techno-Legal Update’. He has presented on his research at conferences in Australia and overseas. Ravi is also a Fellow at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and Lead Policy Analyst at the Australasian Society for Computers + Law. He has previously worked in technology law and policy, including for the OECD and as a non-resident Guest Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies. Ravi is a cricket and AFL tragic, and a fan of Hindi cinema from the 1940s-1970s.
