Public Policy Principles for Cyber & Tech
7-hour Interactive Workshop

-
Review the government instruments used for technology and cyber security
-
Evaluate major policy initiatives in the cyber and tech field.
An executive‑level overview of how governments design and implement policy responses to cyber and technology challenges. Participants examine why public intervention is needed in cybersecurity, digital platforms, AI, and data governance, and how policy tools — regulation, standards, investment, taxation and international cooperation — are deployed in practice. Using analytic frameworks and real‑world cases, the course builds practical insight into governance models, policy trade‑offs and implementation challenges in fast‑moving tech environments.

URGENCY AND RELEVANCE
Technology is advancing faster than most policy frameworks can adapt, creating widening gaps in regulation, accountability and public trust. Governments are under pressure to respond to AI, cyber threats and platform power in real time, often with incomplete information and intense lobbying. Social expectations are shifting just as quickly, with citizens demanding both innovation and stronger protections for security, privacy and rights. At the same time, cyber operations, data control and digital infrastructure have become core tools of state power, reshaping geopolitics and strategic competition. Continuous education and refelction on these issues are urgently needed for decision‑makers to understand these dynamics, weigh trade‑offs and design interventions that are both technically informed and politically realistic. Is there also a need to lead beyond the current tolerance levels of past politics?
